Can I paint a biodegradable flower pot?

I got a bunch of biodegradable pots from the dollar store, but they are a gnarly yellow color. Can I spray paint the outside of them (It's Rust-Oleum with gloss finish) or will it seep in and harm the plants?

You won't saturate the pots by spraying them so the paint, once dried stays on the surface. Paint is a COATING so all you need is enough to hide the under-color. Use as little as you can. You'll be fine.

Paint them, no problem, no harm
