How far from equilibrium does a spring (spring constant 350 N/m) have to be pulled back in order for a 250 g object to have a velocity of 5 m/s when it is passing the equilibrium position of the spring?

    SPE = KE of object at equilibrium position of spring

    SPE = (0.5)(0.250)(5)² = 3.125 J

    1/2kx² = 3.125

    x² = 6.25/350

    x = 0.1336 m ≈ 13.4 cm ANS
