Why can t I give blood?

I m a 5 7 and 108lbs female and my blood pressure is usually around 80/50. I was told that I can t give blood due to my weight and low blood pressure. Why is that so? What would happen if I gave blood?

Current FDA guidelines require potential volunteer blood donors to weigh a minimum of 110 lbs. Approximately 500 ml =/- 50 ml of whole blood is collected at each donation. In a 110 lb donor, this represents about 12-13% of circulating blood volume. Studies have shown that blood loss near 15% or more increases the risk of vasovagal reactions, such as syncope, nausea/vomiting, and/or seizure activity. The rule is in place to protect the blood donor.

Hypotensive crash. You need all of your blood with that blood pressure.

You'd probably pass out or worse.
