The ability to taste the compound PTC is controlled by a dominant allele T, while individuals homozygous for the recessive allele t are unable to taste this compound. In a group of 125 people there are 88 students able to taste PTC and 37 who could not. Calculate the frequency of the genotypes.

Since 37/125 could not taste PTC, fr(tt) must be 37/125 = 0.2960. Therefore, fr(t) = sqrt(0.2960) = 0.5441 you can call q, and fr(T) = 1-0.5441 = 0.4559, you can call p.
