Why does LSU have a rivalry with Arkansas?

Louisiana is notable for New Orleans. The rest of the state is irrelevant.

Meanwhile, Arkansas has the Ozarks, Ouachitas, the top rice production in the country, Fayetteville, etc. It's just a better state.

IMO, college rivalries should be between equivalent states

Update:

This is kind of a jab at LSU fans tbh :)

The reason why LSU has a rivalry with LSU is because they are both in the SEC and the state of Arkansas shares a border north of Louisiana.

By the way, I have been to Louisiana. It is a great state without the city of New Orleans. New Orleans is a **** hole. If it weren't for Mardi Gras, then there would be no good reason to set foot in that city unless you just like to live dangerously.

Louisiana is notable for its food and music, don't let New Orleans give you a bad impression of the entire state.

If it weren't for Mississippi, Louisiana would be the most-ignorant state in the country. They're envious of Arkansas.

    Bordering states.

They're both SEC in sports, they play each other a lot.

They are jealous that the other state is a bigger shitzhole?
