I want to be a hairstylist. Should I go to a local school, or a national chain?

I would do a bit of research into you local school but in my experience, if you go to a well known chain such as Aveda, Paul Mitchell, Empire, Vidal Sassoon, Regancy, etc. you have a better recommendation upon graduation that can help you get an awesome job. I've been a hairstylist for 4 years and I must say that I've never met a cosmetologist from a local community college, everyone I know went to a chain such as the ones I listed. For example; Empire partners with Regis. It makes it 100 times easier to get a job with a Regis Company (and they own most major chains) Aveda gets you points at Aveda salons, and so on. I would recommend picking a salon or type of salon you see yourself working at, and then do your research. Where you educate matters to employers. Good luck!
