Where did coffee jelly originate? Yo? Swag?
Wikipedia says it did in Japan, but my dear incredulous sister does not believe.

Your sister is right and as usual Wikipedia is wrong. Coffee jelly may be popular in Japan but it did not originate there. It is a traditional Sicilian dish far antedating the 1960s.

Coffee jelly was invented in 1963 in Karuizawa, Japan, and virtually unavailable outside of Japan. So it's definitely Japanese.
