For film, you should be looking at Arri and Panavision - and if you think the GoPros are expensive, you're in for some sticker shock. The GoPro series are "action cams" that record video to flash memory. There is no film involved.
If you don't need what camera offers in the way in capture resolution, you might consider it anyway. What the capture device displays internally to you during the capture is of little value after transferring to a computer, editing and rendering. If you are that price sensitive, consider that you also need to use steadying devices, perhaps external mics, update your computer to deal with the captured video, add external hard drives, invest in a decent video editor, buy lighting, and perhaps some other things.
Action cams are not designed for "normal everyday use". They are a niche product for fast action activities. If you need a "regular" camcorder, consider something like the Canon HF R500 instead.
