why is it dangerous to give people your address if they ask it on Craigslist?
I just got an email from Craigslist telling me to not give anyone my address if they ask for it on the internet, but why is it dangerous?

People have been robbed or even killed by fake buyers on Craigslist. One guy who listed jewelry for sale was murdered by a 'buyer' who came to his home. Other people listing expensive electronics have been targeted for home invasion robberies because robbers know if someone has an expensive flat screen TV or laptop, they probably have other expensive items on the property as well
is just one of the hundreds of stories you can find online
You meet in a public, well lit location with other people and ideally security cameras around. I usually meet people at my local Starbucks and get a table as far from the front door as possible so nobody can try to do a grab and run and have never had a problem. If it's a big item, then meet in a gas station, DMV or grocery store parking lot or on the street in front of your local police station

Suggest you only use your personable email address with family and close friends and people you trust. If not, you leave yourself open to Spam and abuse. As much as possible use disposable addresses when communicating with strangers, companies, organizations, etc.
See the following Yahoo Mail Help page re. disposable addresses: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN16026.html?impression...
Disposable addresses are easy and very quick to make up and can be deleted when abused.

Are you really asking this?
Don't you think it's DUMB to give strangers your address?
Might be a psychopath who may pay you visit .. Would you like that?
