I have been literally flooded with spam for the past week or so. Waaaay more than normal. What's up? Can I stop it?

The only effective way to stop spam is to close your account. If that is not an option then try the following tips.

Route your Yahoo mail through some external filters first before viewing it.

Trying to block or filter spam emails is a losing battle since the spammers can make small changes so their spam will evade your filters. This leads to a never-ending cycle of you creating new filters every time a spam mail slips through. The best strategy is to mark each email as spam so Yahoo's Spamguard will improve over time. Spam will only increase. You can't stop it. Many days I have close to 100 and I rarely use the address.
