The Mechanical Engineering program at NJIT is ABET-accredited. Serious stuff - it is highly unlikely that you would be allowed to minor in anything. You will be plenty busy with the basic program.

If you get really great grades, during your Jr and Sr years you may be invited to do some research with one of the professors in one of your target fields but right now it's a premature consideration.

I would say Computer Science. There is a lot of computer modeling of oil deposits. And, from what I know, it's a good department.

The Prof is exactly right. Focus on the basics at this point.

Congratulations - NJIT is an excellent engineering school.

None of the above. Consider Geology or Chemistry.
