You need to complete your mbbs program and pass your medical exams in India before you try to go on to anything else. USMLE is a very difficult exam. Of those who ever survive to start Phase 3, barely half pass at best. USMLE doesn't even bother tracking those who never get to Phase 3.
For Indians who earn their mbbs in India, 40% fail India's medical exams. For Indians who earn their mbbs abroad, the failure rate is nearly double that. Don't even think about starting USMLE until you have earned your mbbs and passed your exams in India.
Also note that US no longer has enough hospital residency positions for Americans who earn their MD degrees in US & have passed USMLE. So even if you eventually pass USMLE, it is highly likely you cannot obtain any residency position in the US. Due to Obummercare (US health care bill), hospitals have been laying off at every level from attending physicians to janitors. As of last September, over 19,000 Indians who earned their MD in the US & passed USMLE had returned to India to find opportunities to practice in India.
This is a fairly recent development, and US health care industry is in a shambles. Your relatives cannot do anything whatsoever for you. Don't be surprised if your relative ends up back in India.
