Who do you think deserves more money, Russell Wilson or Colin Kaepernick?

Just a question that I wanted other people's opinion on after Kaep signed that new deal.

Wilson and Kaepernick play is virtually identical systems WRT offensive philosophy. The Seahawks and SF each executed 929 and 922 plays in 2013 (excluding punts, kickoffs, field goals, and plays resulting in a penalty). The Seahawks passed the football on 420 plays (45.2%), with Wilson accounting for 407 of the Seahawks passing attempts. The 9ers passed the football on 417 plays (45.2%) with Kaepernick accounting for 416 of the 9ers passing attempts. So, both teams executed virtually identical numbers of running and passing plays. Moreover, the Seahawks averaged 136.8 YPG running the ball while the 9ers averaged 137.6 YPG running. So, not only did both teams have virtually identical numbers of running and passing plays, but both teams were essentially equally proficient when running the football. This should dispel the notion that Kaepernick and Wilson were asked to do anything different. They played under head coaches with virtually identical philosophies about how to run an offense (lean heavily on the run) and both offenses were virtually identical in executing the running game.

So then the question is when they passed the football, who did it better? Wilson completed 257/407 (63.1%) of his passes for 3357 yards (8.25 YPA), 26 TDs, 9 interceptions, and a passer rating of 101.2. Kaepernick completed 243/416 (58.4%) of his passes for 3197 yards (8.07 YPA), 21 TDs, 8 interceptions, and a passer rating of 91.6. Wilson's stats are better in everything except for one extra interception.

Wilson had better stats during the regular season. Kaepernick could not make the crunch time play in the NFCCG while Wilson converted a 4th down TD pass that gave the Seahawks the lead in that game. Finally, Wilson has the ultimate prize in football, a SB ring. Wilson is (slightly) better than Kaepernick and should be paid accordingly.

Tough. Wilson has obviously had more success, but I think Kaepernick is asked to do more. Having said that, Kaepernick. Not sure that Wilson should get a huge contract when he passes less than any other QB in the league.

No player deserves anything. When you are due for a new contract the "game" will decide your worth by what teams want to pay for your services. Other than that you are worth the contract you signed.

At this time both are going to be great future quarterbacks so I guess it is up to the team owners and how good are their agents are.
