What do you think of the name Salome?

Can be pronounced "sah LOHM" or "sah loh MEH."

    Yeah sounds like deli meat but I know a girl names Solomia (soh-loh-MI-ah)

    it sounds a bit risqué to me. I only think of the Agatha Christie TV adapation with the wonderful Angela Lansbury as Salome Otterbourne.., I would rather go for Delilah, Salome to me is a bit too over the top, then one might as well name sons Lancelot or Percival. It may be fitting in some countries but also think ''does it sound silly or strange with the last name? After all there are enough children being bullied at school and sometimes a strange name, that seems to belong elsewhere can be the cause of it...It's all possible of course. Celebrities name their children a lot more extravagant names but how do the children really feel about their names?
