Who is in a better position to do a better job. Govenment or Private enterprise.?
Lets start with Health Care first.
1. Big Government can not handle 9 million members of
the VA, Without killing them. Taking care of them. Holding
them out of care, so as the heads to be can collect a bonus.
2. ACA. Going to dwarf the VA by millions. Already showing
wear and tear in its infancy. Prices going to sky rocket in
starting as early as next year.
3. The Government and Business. The US gov. and GM.
Boy did that ever go well huh. Obama and his minions
put us right on the number one spot to be sued by the
class actions coming forward on the ignition switches.
Why do you say. We were Majority Stock Holders at the
time. We had controlling interest of General Motors.
4. Government and Fuel/Oil . US Department of Agriculture.
Push for more and more Ethanol fuel. When all during the
time it has been used. It has failed to produce one thing
it was intended to. Plus taking field corn off of the livestock
table. Driving stock prices so damn high. Ranchers and
stock producers can no longer exist.
5. The United States Post Office. Here is a sweetheart
of complete failure. Loses more money then 200 companies
combined a year.
Can anyone give support reasons for why big government
needs to be running things into the ground like this.

Private enterprise beats out government every time. When someone pays for something, they probably expect results. Same goes for an employer's employees. You slack on the job too much and you're fired.
But the government has an almost limitless supply of money (kinda) at the expense of the taxpayers and nothing gets done.
I'll bet that if we allowed the free market to encourage businesses to develop green energy, not the government, we would have had efficient wind turbines years ago.Source(s): ~Aizen

I agree with you almost 100 percent. Internet/electronics destroyed the Post Office. I haven't mailed a letter or package in eons. FedEx is better. That's why department stores are closing too.

ROFLMAO. People died in ERs waiting for help before Obamacare. Millions of Vets have gotten great service from their Government run health care, same with Seniors.

Weaken one, and the other becomes too strong.
It's all about balance.

You're working too hard.
Our founding farters designed a Federal gov which was not allowed to interfere with the lives of Private Citizens. 1785-87. meanwhile, President Washington led from the front to put down the whiskey rebellion over a tax issue in Ohio.
Since then FedGov has been running rampant and trampling over our Rights.
Obviously private Enterprise is in a better position because it has its nose to the ground while Uncle Sugar has gotten a little snooty but while Reagan is my Hero, I must confess that Obama just has a different style when occupying the Capt Kirk chair:
"Risk is our business"
The marketplace of ideas works way better than Fascism.

It is not an either/or situation. Medicare has done a good job in handling health care coverage for the oldest and sickest segment of the population, for decades. The private institutions that provide medical care are some of the best in the world.
Your attempt at making simplistic comparisons does not take into account the complexity of the medical care and coverage situation in this country.

The government tends to be much more efficient if run right. After all, it's a non profit.

The reason the private sector works better than government is not because the private sector is infallible. It most definitely is not. But when the private sector fails, it's failures go out of business and are replaced. The replacements may themselves fail. But when a business model that succeeds finally emerges, it perpetuates itself, and others copy it to create competition. Thus, the private sector eventually succeeds as long as companies are allowed to fail, and the profit incentive is allowed to flourish.
Government tends to fail because once it fails once, it never replaces it's failures. Instead, government failures create lobbying interests that perpetuate the failure. Medicaid has been shown to not improve people's health outcomes over being uninsured according to the Oregon study, which is the only gold standard study of medicaid done to date because it was fully randomized. Yet medicaid survives forever because many people get free money from it. And few politicians get elected for promising to stop the flow of free money.
There are some things that only government can do, usually because of a conflict of interest. Sometimes because of the need for special legal authority that cannot be granted to private actors. Sometimes because the concentrated resources needed are nearly impossible to gather in private. But for the provision of economic goods, government almost never does as well as even low end private providers.

That's all because free market fundamentalists have been busy sabotaging government, and the people's ability to be represented by it for the past 30 years.
Government shouldn't be some alien force out there. It should be the representative of the population. We need to demand it becomes that again.
In the meantime, private ownership of the commonwealth and its resources is absolutely illegitimate.

Government and big business right now are one and the same.
