The school have students work on campus because it does not have "as much"staff.

"as much" here means "the same".

The meaning of the sentence is:

    學校沒有與學生相對等的工作人員, 所以學校設有學生在校內工作. 也就是說工作人員與學生比率太低,所以學校僱用學生在校內工作.

    再請問as much 的 as詞性為何

"as" is an adverb, so is "much", they both are used to describe "have".

    2014-05-25 06:47:19 補充:

If it is an adverb, it cannot be used to describe "staff".

"staff" is the object (object) of "have", and "as much" is used as an adverb phrase to describe "have".

    2014-05-25 06:50:08 補充:

"as" can only be used as an adverb, a preposition, a conjunction, and a pronoun.

"much" can be used as an adverb, and adjective and a pronoun.

If "as much" is used to describe "staff", and "staff" is a countable noun, then you cannot use "much", but "many".

Therefore, with the above said, you know "as much" cannot be used to describe "staff", but to describe "have".

Go on, lend me the money - you know I'd do as much for you.

Financially, he estimated the budget would be considerably lower because the school system wouldn't need to hire as much staff.

I think she's fat, but when I said as much to her, she got very upset.

The 1st and 3rd example, I purposely didn't have nouns after "as much", so you can see it clearly that "as much" is to describe "do" (1st example) and "said" (3rd example).

If you like you can add "thing" after "as much" in

Go on, lend me the money - you know I'd do as much for you.

    or

I think she's fat, but when I said as much to her, she got very upset.

But you can see it is redundant.
