    I'll answer each question and add a few notes to help you try to understand it.

    1. d) -8

    a negative number (-) multiplied by a positive number gives you a negative number.

    2. c) 31 assuming x = 3 (typo?),

    the small 3 on top is known as an exponent and to write it for people to understand it would be x ^ 3

    so you do (3) ^ 3 - (-4)

    which is really 3 * 3 * 3 + 4 which is 31

    Remember subtracting a negative is just like adding a positive!

    3. c) 3n - 5

    pretty simple, it tells you 3 times n, so 3n, and it tells you minus five, so subtract 5, - 5

    4. a) 6

    add 6 to both sides so you get 4x = 24

    divide by 4 and you get x = 6

    5. c) 4x < 16

    the product of something means multiplied, so 4x, and that is less than (so our sign opens AWAY from that number), towards 16, because it is less than 16.

    6. c) -2

    plug in each number:

    (-16 + -2)

    you get -18/9, and a negative number divided by a positive is still a negative number, so you get -2

    7. b) 6

    add 4 to both sides to cancel out the -4

    and you get x = 6

    8. d) -5

    because the number must be larger that -6 and it may be tricky because its negative. but, if you make a number line it will make more sense:

    -7, -6 1/2, -6, -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4

    -5 is to the right of -6 and is greater than -6.

    9. d) 3n = 51

    we know 3 x vida's age = father's age based on the first sentence. then we are told her fathers age = 51. so replace her fathers age with the number and her age with a variable since it is unknown

    3 x n = 51

    10. d) 28

    subtract -12 from 16, so

    16 - -12, and subtracting a negative is the same as adding a positive so,

    16 + 12, which equals 28

    1. Multiple 2 by -4, it so simple ^^. -4 x 2 = -8

    2. x = ???? your data not complete

    3. 3 times a number, n , minus 5? the answer 3n-5

    4. 4x-6 =18

    4x = 24

    x = 6

    5. i'm not sure with my answer but i think the answer is 4+x<16

    x = 6

    8. x > -6, it means that x have more than -6 so the answer is -5

    9. n = vida, f = father

    f = 3n

    51 = 3n

    the answer is D

    10. Total = temperature at 12 - temperature at 3

    total = 16 - (-12)

    total = 16+12

    total = 28
