Saint Honoré of Amiens is the patron of bakers. His feast is on the 16th of May. Since 1996, bakers from all around France celebrate the bread festival which takes place between the Monday preceding the 16th of May and ends on the following Sunday. During that week, artisan bakers organise events in order to promote the good quality of their bread, in opposition to industrial bread.
There's an excellent description of the bread festival at a little French town, see this link http://www.erzebet.com/2011/fete-du-pain/

"Festival des pains" is actually a brand, a group of millers and bakers who work together according to strict specifications. When you buy bread from a bakery that belongs to this group, you know what you get, usually good quality baguettes and breads.
