chance of rain question?

if there is a 70% chance of rain in 2 hours. then what is the chance of rain for the second hour?

Please let me know how you figure it out.. thank you!

    It would be 70%

    The percentage of a chance of rain is determined by the probability of precipitation. Probability of precipitation is the probability that precipitation will fall at any point, averaged over the forecast area.

    In your case, a 70% chance of rain means that there will be a 70% chance that rain will occur at any given point in the area. It also means that there is a 30% chance that it will not rain. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/?n=pop

    You take the probability it won't rain in the 1st hour (30%) and multiply it by the probability it won't rain during the 2nd hour

    P (no rain in either hour) = 0.30 * 0.30 = 0.09

    P(rain in 2nd hour) = 1 - 0.09 = 0.91
