    本人讚同羅莉大師的意見。第三題只能選答案C,因為that boy應受到[修飾語]的限定:with the lovely hair。

    1. A: I am poor at basketball. I never play it.

B: __________. I like baseball more than basketball.

    (a)So do I (b) I don't, either

    2. A: I have no idea how to make pies. Do you?

    B: ________.

    (A) So do I (B) Neither do I.

3.That boy ________ lives next door to me. He is my classmates, too.

    (A) has red hair (B) who give me a hand (C) with the lovely hair (D) on a blue shirt

    2014-04-17 17:58:36 補充:

    3. That boy has red hair and lives net door to me.

    兩個述部時,要用連接詞,否則成了run-on sentence,是錯誤的。

    2014-04-17 17:59:00 補充:

    typo: ...next ...

    2014-04-17 18:05:02 補充:

    第三題的介系詞片語在當前面那個名詞boy的修飾語時,不能像DSW大師所說,用逗號將其與名詞隔開。只有非限定的同位語,或非限定的修飾語(使用形容詞子句時),才會用逗號。

    1. When he was five , he____lost in a moonless night. Since then, he has been afraid of th dark. (a)got (b)has got

    請問是(a)嗎?

    是的,因為時間點是他五歲那時(過去)

    但b-從過去到現在的經驗?

    是的。因為since then給了起點,算到現在為止。

    2014-04-18 11:51:41 補充:

2.When Mark got home, his wife _________dinner for his family.

    (a) had cooked (b)has cooked(持續到mark回家才煮完?) 請問是a嗎?

    這是指過去的單一事件,且有時差,所以時間在前的要用過去完成式(a)。

    2014-04-18 11:53:56 補充:

3.When my parents came to visit me in London, they asked me _____I could spend some time showing them around.

    (a)that (b)if (c)where

    應該選(B),因為這是名詞子句當直接受詞,用if時,意思是[是否],才能合乎上下文意。

    (a)that (b)if (c)where

    這題我翻找字典,覺得答案應該是a,不知對不對

    master 羅莉 !

If (C) is the right answer, why not (D)? Wrong preposition, shall be "with a blue shirt"?

    2014-04-17 09:51:02 補充:

In my opinion, Q#3 is not really a good one, if you can ONLY choose ONE answer. To me, (A) (C) (D) are all acceptable.

    2014-04-17 09:51:54 補充:

However, the standard answer might be (A). After all, (C) and (D) are the same things.

    2014-04-17 09:52:48 補充:

The only thing you can argue not to choose (D) is the preposition "on". It is better to use "with".

    2014-04-17 09:53:37 補充:

Anyway, to me, this kind of test is really bothersome.

    2014-04-17 11:58:41 補充:

    但一個用錯了介系詞

    Not so quick!

What color tie goes on a blue shirt?

What color tie goes with a blue shirt?

White also looks good on a blue shirt.

    2014-04-17 12:03:19 補充:

Tell me why you have to use "in" or "with" but not "on"?

    with a blue shirt,

    on a blue shirt,

    in a blue shirt,

    2014-04-17 13:23:38 補充:

    I don't mean complement = parenthesis.

I mean prepositional phrase acts as an adjective, like complement (I use "like," not "act as" or "serve as").

However, when you use " , ", then it is parenthesis.

I am sorry that I didn't state this clearly.

    2014-04-17 13:28:35 補充:

    master Louis!

Now you want to talk about "logic".

The sentence CAN mean. " (the photo of) that boy on a blue shirt …"

    2014-04-17 13:29:27 補充:

I am NOT trying to argue my way, but just to let you see how I see it when I read the sentence.

    2014-04-17 13:30:03 補充:

This is why I have those examples of using different prepositions.

    2014-04-17 13:31:24 補充:

The question itself is NOT made very nicely, so we can take the meaning of the sentence at different angles.

    2014-04-17 13:35:34 補充:

I certainly know the logic of "但人不在衣服的上面". However, when I read the sentence, since it uses "on", I immediately react to "(the photo of) that boy on …"

    2014-04-17 13:38:18 補充:

To me, this kind of sentence is what I encounter in my daily conversation with Americans. Due to the mutual understanding of the context, some words are curtailed, but it doesn't cause misunderstanding.

    2014-04-17 13:41:03 補充:

Like the choice (A) in Q#3, without "who" is likely the way people use in conversation.

    2014-04-17 13:44:22 補充:

The kind of grammar you have mentioned is very basic, I am sure I know them well. Not to give you a bad impression about my grammar knowledge, I have to give you the idea how I look at those 4 choices in Q#3.

    2014-04-17 14:19:10 補充:

I also know, to answer question like this, I shall NOT alter or imagine. However, I feel sorry for Taiwan students to learn this kind of restricted English. After all, in the real world, besides choice (B), the rest can ALL possibly be used in a different scenario.

    2014-04-17 14:22:14 補充:

If poster goes out to talk with English speaking people, and tells them (A) and (D) are NOT the right use. it can puzzle the listeners. Maybe, in a test, (A) and (D) has their grammatical and logical problem.

    2014-04-17 14:24:53 補充:

However, in my opinion, poster shall know with some minor corrections, they can be all correct uses. This is why I don't have that much faith in grammar. After all, grammar is dead (fixed), but the English users are NOT.

    2014-04-17 14:27:40 補充:

We cannot use fixed rules to constrain a dynamic brain of a user in using English.

    不贊同DSG的第3題解答.

    選項A缺關代who(考試不可自己加上), 造成一句雙動詞, 這正是它的錯處;

    with xxx用作修飾名詞時, 直接後位修飾即可, 無需前後加逗號, 故C為正解.

    with xxx前後加逗號, 通常是用作副詞片語, 例如:

The boy, with his abundant common sense, solved the problem immediately.

    2014-04-17 09:42:02 補充:

= The boy solved the problem immediately with his abundant common sense.

= With his abundant common sense, the boy solved the problem immediately.

He/She. .

    關於選項B, 基本動詞變化錯誤, 要用gave或gives才對.

    2014-04-18 15:20:03 補充:

關於選項D the photo of) that boy on a blue shirt lives.....

    這更是大錯特錯,相片怎會住隔壁?

就算妳意思是「藍襯衫上面(相片)的那個人」,也不會是that boy on a blue shirt,而應是the boy whose picture is on a blue shirt..

英語人士聽到that boy on a blue shirt最直接的理解是「站/坐在藍襯衫上面的那個男孩」,但語意奇怪,怎會站/坐在襯衫上面?

that boy in a blue shirt「穿藍襯衫的那個男孩」語意最為正確與正常.
