How do you say "I apply for a job as a doctor?"?

The question is: "?A que tipo de trabajo aplica usted?"

And I want to reply with something along the lines of 'i apply to be a doctor'

So would "Aplico para ser una medica" be correct?

Your grammar is good but the question isn't asking that. Spanish's -aplicar- isn't used to "apply for something (like a job)" except in Bolivia, Venezuela, and Columbia (according to Collins dict.) and in Los Angeles, Calif, where I've heard it personally, but it's because of contamination with English.

The question is asking you "to what type of work are you currently applying your efforts"?

    Good luck!
