Actually, the land is not owned by his family:
"What began as a legal fight between longtime rancher Cliven Bundy and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management has escalated as Bundy kept his cattle on the federal land, and the government has responded by beginning roundups of the livestock."
"Almost 600,000 acres of public land has been temporarily closed to the public as more than 900 cattle are rounded up from a vast swath of mountains and desert where Bundy has left his livestock to roam even though he hasn’t paid federal grazing fees since 1993.
The BLM’s Lueders said the seizure of cattle on federal land was being done as a “last resort,” and there is only one person to blame for the situation.
“Mr. Bundy is breaking the law, and he has been breaking the law for 20 years,” she said. “He owes the taxpayers of the United States over $1 million.”

Wish you would get your facts correct. The land isn't owned by his family and hasn't been in decades. There is NO dispute over ownership. He's been grazing his cattle on government land and NOT paying for the right for 20 years. He has ignored all attempts to get him to stop grazing on the land. It's protected land and his cattle are damaging it. Time for a reality check.

The rancher is question has been freeloading on land that I own for over twenty years. I'm sick and tired of freeloading welfare mommas like this wannabe Ben Cartwright thinking that he has a right to suck the public teat for nothing.

It has nothing to do with the cows or desert tortoises. It has everything to do with greed. Harry Reid's greed that is and the governments complicity in this whole thing.

The government's actions are unrelated to the price of beef.
