What did it take to manage and secure Olympic-caliber infrastructure?

When I read the article 'By the Numbers: Solving the Olympic IT Puzzle' (http://subzeroblog.acronis.com/posts/numbers-solvi... I also asked a question 'Handling Olympic competition data was a big enough task?'

What do you think about the technical side of the Olympic games? Was everything perfect?

I read former IOC member Dick Pound's 2004 book "Inside the Olympics". Pound described how there have always been problems behind the scenes at every Olympics.

Since then, Olympics have become much more complex, with lots more amenities and moving pieces. So I'm very confident that there have been many minor and some moderate problems -- mostly correctable -- at all Olympics. I think we'd know about major ones, though perhaps not internal security issues.
