Texas is serious about their car insurance rules and regulations, and the Texas State Department of Motor Vehicles does require drivers who have been convicted of a DWI, DUI or drug offenses to file a Texas SR-22 auto certificate. The TX SR22 insurance form must show that the driver is carrying at least the state mandated minimum amount of car insurance coverage for Texas. In Texas, the state requires that drivers carry at least $25,000 per person per accident in liability coverage, $50,000 for more than one person per accident liability coverage, and at least $25,000 in property damage coverage.
The best thing you can do is shop online, you will find a wide range of prices.

The SR-22 is an endorsement that you add to your regular insurance, the SR-22 is not the insurance.
The endorsement is relatively inexpensive, usually around $35 depending on company. It means that if you ever are in the situation where your policy is lapsing the insurance company will notify the MVD so they can pull your tags.
However, the cost of your insurance will increase based on the violation. Also, if you need to get new insurance not all companies will write a policy for someone that needs an SR-22.

If you have no violations are are just looking for the bare minimum coverage, it runs around $30 per month, roughly. Any violations may bump this up.
If you already have a ticket for no insurance, then you will also have to pay an additional $250 per year for three years, along with the fine for the ticket.

It depends on what your violations are that require it, and what kind of car you drive, and your credit score. It can be anywhere from $25 extra (it's an endorsement ON TOP OF an auto policy), to thousands extra.

It is pretty cheap. You will really be charged for the violation (the reason you need the SR-22), not the SR-22 itself. It varies by company. Call and ask them.
