If God created the earth, universe, etc. in six days...?

...why did it take a month and a half to chisel some stone tablets? And why did Moses immediately break "thou shalt not kill" by having the levites kill 3000 people for worshiping a golden calf?

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ***, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

    A) Moses made the mistake of bringing a really dull chisel and then he left the hammer in a ravine on the way up when he stopped to take a piss.

    B) Neither god nor Moses were stonemasons.

    C) They couldn't find any pre-cut tablets lying around unused on the top of Mt Sinai.

    D) God apparently mutters a lot and since ole Mose wasn't allowed to look him in the eye lip-reading was out.

    E) The Holy Spirit who can usually be relied upon for interpretation was on extended leave in Aruba. God must have forgotten to check his calendar when he made the appointment with Mose. They do say memory is one of the first things to go and let's face it....Yahweh is reputedly very VERY old.

Why did Moses have a fit and scream "off with their heads"?

Not only had ole Mose had his power usurped and his orders ignored, he'd been so insistent that he could coerce the Jews into monotheism that god tricked him into betting his own arrival in the promised land.We all know that Yahweh is a notorious gambler. Remember poor ole Job?

Conceited people with anger management problems shouldn't have access to unopposed power because bad things are always gonna happen. Apparently that axiom applies equally to both Yahweh and his chosen prophets.

The bible says one day is like a thousand years all this took forty years not days. While Moses was on the mount the people were making idols and worshiping idols. They broke the first two commandments The Lord told Moses what to do if they didn't accept his commandments with a willing heart. Who knows the ways of god he has punishment for disobedience Moses never made it to the promised land because of his angry at the people.

In addition to "thou shalt not kill", the Law provides various If-Then conditionals that allow for execution. Therefore, the passages are not strictly "contrary".

The Bible does not say how much time passed between Genesis 1:1 & 1:2.

The Bible does not say how much time passed between between the Seventh day and the forming of Eth haAdam, who should not be confused with the Sixth day creation.

From Genesis 1:3 onward, the primary word used is "asaw", which has a wide variety of applications (to do, make, or APPOINT) and not "bara" (create).

You do realize your asking question about a book you have never read and understand nothing in that book. This is portrayed in your words. First off THE BIBLE doesn't teach JESUS created everything in 6 24hr days only thousands of years ago. That is all lies from satan. To be duped by satan indicates one belongs to satan. Now you probably did very poorly in science as well. I shall teach you a little about comprehension of the written word. Notice our current yellow star wasn't even created until day four. Guess what you can't have a 24 hr day without it.So you display how that THE WORD OF GOD is hidden from you. Yet be advised it was your choice to become blind. You didn't know THE BIBLE IS AN BOOK INTO WHICH IS HIDDEN THE WORD OF GOD. The only wise question you can ask is why is THE WORD OF GOD hidden from me???

    JESUS BLESS YOU

Adam and Eve were kicked out of Eden for accepting the "forbidden" knowledge of good and evil. And then Moses says he went up on the mountain and God gave him the very forbidden knowledge that he, God, forbid man to have. So who are you going to believe God or Moses?
