The total mass of the hydrogen gas in the Hindenburg zeppelin was 18,000 kg. Assuming standard conditions, what volume did the hydrogen occupy?

    density of hydrogen at stp is

    ρ = 0.0899 kg/m³

    V = m / ρ

    V = 18000 / 0.0899

    V = 200(10³) m³

    Formula for volume of a circle. 2Pi*r, so you need the radius of the Hindenburg's tank.

    Molecular weight of H2 is 2.0159 g/mol

    mw = m/n

    n = m/mw

    n = 18000kg / (2.0159g/mol)

    n = 8.929x10^6mol

    At STP, one mole of gas has a volume of 22.4L

    V = n * 22.4L/mol

    V = 8.929x10^6mol * 22.4L/mol

    V = 2.00x10^8l = 2.00x10^5 m^3
