Pretty much..... If you're interested in such things, I suggest two sources. First, the Skeptical Inquirer, the long-standing magazine published by what used to be called "CSICOP", or the Committee for the Scientific Investigation Of Claims of the Paranormal. They have since shortened this to the "Center for Inquiry" or something like that.
The magazine is online, and has a very large collection of articles you can browse for free. The Committee has had as it's fellows a virtual who's who of modern science, including Carl Sagan, Isaac Asimov, Stephen Jay Gould, and many others.
You can find detailed examinations of all sorts of claims there.
Secondly, the forum run by the James Randi Educational Foundation. Randi is the magician/conjuror who has maintained for many years the "Million Dollar Challenge"... Said prize to be awarded to anyone who can manifest paranormal abilities under controlled conditions.
No one has ever won.
The forum is lively, far better informed than anything you'll find here, and covers all manner of subjects.

Some work on material from basic human principle. But most others try to re-word actions from what a human person already does with out knowing it. But in a sense. Either you learn it organically through nature and nurture or you're left with a missing link and these tool to attempt to fill the void.
