Jazz that uses flutes in place of saxaphones?

Heard really good jazz on the radio with a flute lead instead of a saxaphone. Anyone know any music like that?

Hi. Do an Internet search for flute in addition to names such as Gary Thomas, Yusef Lateef, Dave Valentin, Hubert Laws, James Moody, Gilberto Valdez, James Newton, Waymen Carter, Hermeto Pascoal, George Colovus, Joe Farrell, Herbie Mann, Eric Dolphy, Sam Most, Vinny Golia, Marhieu Schneider, Bobbi Humphrey, Ira Sullivan, Jeremy Steig, Byard Lancaster, Doug Harris and about 4000 more men and women Jazz Flutist. They're all easily accessible if one were to show interest. Cheers and good luck. P.S. "saxophone " is the correct spelling.

There are quite a few. I mainly hear it in smooth jazz and Latin music. Yusef Lateef, Rashaan Roland Kirk, Kent Jordan (my high school band director!), Wayman Carver, Frank Wess, and Joe Henderson come to mind. Many of them also played sax.

Add Jean Luc Ponty for a more fusion sort of thing.
