Moon landing was faked?

Why have people been talking about this for so long? Can't somebody check if the flag and everything else is still there?

They did, here see for yourself

You can clearly see the hardware and even the footprints the astronauts left on the Moon.

Also, here is a link to a site debunking the most common hoax arguments.

Unfortunately, for some people the above pictures are not enough. Even if you drag them to the Moon and show them the real thing, they will still say that it is fake.

People see that we have not landed anyone on the Moon in 42 years and that makes them wonder (quite reasonable I think) if there is something hidden here.

Then they make the mistake of comparing a modern laptop costing $1,000 to a million dollar mainframe that had far less computing power and filled a room in 1969 and say that proves technology has advanced enough to make it easier to go to the Moon today. From this they jump to the conclusion that if it still too expensive and difficult today it must have been impossible then.

What they should do is compare a $20,000 car today that gets the same MPG and has the same top speed as a car costing $3,000 in 1969 and then realize that only computers (and all electronics technology) has enjoyed amazing advances while cars (and all transportation technologies including rockets) have not. So it is just as expensive and difficult today as it was in 1969 and still not worth to cost to keep doing it. This is also why so many great robotic missions to planets have flown since then. Because the small, light weight, and highly capable robotic space craft we can build with advanced electronics technology can be easily sent much farther away than the Moon with the same old inefficient and expensive rockets we are still using.

you can't check to see if the flag is there, I doubt it still is. Those people are called conspiracy theorists. Why would the government spend billions of dollars to fund a near decade long space program to achieve their goal of landing on the moon. If this was so, then where did the rocket go after it launched? It didn't orbit Earth now did it? Don't you think that the soviets were tracking it's flight path and had some idea of where it was heading.

Kids that weren't around at the time feel they missed out on the most important achievement of modern civilization, and instead of dealing with that they try to discredit it.

    Doesn't matter, the facts exist.

There are lots of images of the landers from orbit (the flag is way too small to see even with telescopes from orbit).

The reflectors positioned on the moon by Apollo 11 are still there (lots of different people around the world bounce lasers off them to measure the distance to the moon).

Its like so many things - kids will believe any fake crap that comes along but won't accept facts. A real shame.

Because the nut jobs that insist that it was faked aren't impressed by evidence.

What is the point of spending millions to go to the moon to take a photograph of the flag to send it back to earth only for them to say the photo was faked?

As it happens the landing sites have been photographed by the LRO but the pics aren't all that helpful not that it would matter as these conspiracy nuts are far more interested in finding rats on Mars than bothering with real images to real scale. The key is to ignore them and leave them to their ignorance while the experts get on with the job of doing real science.

Actually, we left mirrors on the moon and, still today, we can shine laser light onto those mirrors and measure how long it takes for the light to bounce back to earth. This allows us to make very good measurements of exactly how far away from earth the moon is.

And... as previous answers have said, yes, the stuff we left there is still there (where can it go unless it is hit by a meteorite?) and we have photos.

The flags, footprints, LEM decent stages, rovers and all have been photographed by moon orbiting satellites put up by Japan, the EU, and others. The landings did take place.

Just do a search, and then click on images. This link may help. I tried yahoo, but did not have much luck.

It would make no difference. People who do not believe in facts will never be convinced even when shown proof.

They will simply claim that any pictures - which do exist - of the landing sites has also been faked.

A fake landing would have been a more impressive accomplishment than the real one. Imagine hoaxing thousands of engineers to believe a fake. They knew what they were working on, and they were *extremely* aware of whether it would work or not. Not one engineer has stepped forward to testify that he worked on a phony part.

It wasn't faked. People, in general, are CRAZY. Check out the average yayhoo standing in line at the 7-11, then ask yourself if he has accurate perception.
