Why are the New England Patriots struggling in this AFC Championship game?
Neither their offense nor defense can seem to get anything going. Even QB Tom Brady isn't playing like he normally does.

Their pass defense without Talib is not good enough against a team with this many weapons. Talib was the guy you could put on the opponent's #1 Wr so you could give help to the other corners. They also lost Wilfork and Mayo who are important members of their defense. As for the offense without Gronk, they need to run to set up the pass which they haven't done.

They are getting outplayed on both sides of the trenches and losing Talib made things worse.

I usually agree with you but this time how is the offense not playing that bad with only 3 points in three quarters?

Their offense isn't playing that bad, but their defense can't make any stops at this point. Without Talib, they can't cover D. Thomas and they are getting zero pass rush as Manning literally is having all day to throw.

Brady missed a few passes that could have resulted in more points. Nothing seems to be going right for them today.

What makes you think the defense was anything special this year?

They are just getting outplayed today. Denver's defense is playing surprising well.
