Do Environmental Engineers fall into this catagory?

I was thinking of majoring in something that involves the research and production in clean energies and new energy, does the Environmental Engineer do these things?

Environmental engineering jobs are more likely to be in municipal wastewater or the creation of impact statements.

If you want to be involved in clean-energy research, you should be seeking an academic job rather than an industrial job...so you need to attend a top school and pursue a PhD. Environmental engineering is a possible choice of undergraduate fields, but so is chemistry or physics, or ME, EE, etc.
