How do you make toffee from an already opened can of condensed milk?
I have a recipe for toffee where you're supposed to cook a closed can of sweetened condensed milk in a pot of water for 2-3 hours.
Since I have an already opened can, I was wondering if I can make toffee from that?
Does anyone happen to know?

1/2 c butter
2 c white sugar
1 can Eagle Brand (sweetened condensed milk)
16 oc white Karo syrup
Combine ingredients. Boil over medium heat til candy thermometer reaches 240 degrees (soft ball stage: when a bit of syrup is drop into a cup of cold water and you can make a soft bal with it).Source(s): My recipe file
