If Canada Merged with America, would we inherit their bad traits?

For example: (hypothetically) If we became one big country...because culturally we are pretty much the same. So if one day we did merge; would Americans get free health care, Would Canadians inherit America's enemies, deubts ect?

Yes. America would get shafted with Canada's socialism

not going to happen, and NO ONE gets FREE health care, some one pays for it, and the Provinces are now devoting >50% of their budget to it, and considering the real possibility of privatizing portions of it again, (per the Toronto Star). But then again although they are having financial trouble with theirs along with having the longest wait time for treatment in some areas in the developed world (CBC news ), ours is nothing to pattern after either.

We are NOT the same culturally, Cross the border into Canada, especially Quebec and you know you are in a country that is much closer to Europe, and more Traditional than in the US.

The Canadians would not want our problems, and they get all the benefits of our military might already. We also have the benefit of their oil exports at a good price.

Remaining very good neighbors, (neighbours) seems to work pretty good all around.....eh?

That's pretty much how it would work. We become one and have the same allies and enemies. Some things would have to be compromised.
