How do I match RAM to a MOBO?
For example, the MOBO I'm looking at (G1.Sniper 5) says it has 4 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 32 GB of system memory, dual channel memory architecture, and supports 1600 MHz memory modules. I only want 16GB of RAM. Do I buy 2 x 8GB DDR3 1600 sticks or 4 x 4GB DDR3 1600 sticks? Does the dual channel memory architecture play a role in the deciding factor? This is my first time building a computer. Also, the computer will be used for gaming purposes.

Your PC needs DDR3 1600 modules. In basic arithmetic, 2 x 8 = 16, and 4 x 4 =16. Both will perform the same. The 2 x 8 is the wiser choice if you ever plan to add more memory. Since your MB has 4 slots, be sure to place the 8 GB modules into the correct slots. Consult your motherboard manual.
