# Can anyone Make Linear Equations out of this statement for me?

Q: The length of a rectangle is 4 times its width (l=4w). The perimeter of the rectangle is 150cm. Find the dimensions of the triangle.

I just want the simultaneous linear equations made.

I made one out of the perimeter info.

2l + 2w = 150

=> 2 (l+w) = 150

=> l+w = 150/2

equation is l+w = 75......(i)

I need another equation out of the l=4w info.

l+w=75

from l=4w

substitute value of l in (i)

then, 4w+w=75

=>5w=75

=> w=75/5=15

l=4w=4(15)=60

therefore the length and the width of the rectangle are 60cm and 15cm respectively.

Width ............ w

Length .........4w

Perimeter: 2w + 2l

150 = 2(w) + 2(4w)

Clear the parentheses

150 = 2w + 8w <-- Here is the equation

Combine like terms

150 = 10w

Divide both sides by 10

15 = width

So 60 = length
