Why do many of the religious not seem to grasp the meaning of "theory"?
"Theory"- A heavily studied and nearly perfect scientific theory. As close to proving something in science as is physically possible,
"Theoretical"- Concerning the nature of a theory or subject, as opposed to its application.
@Daphne: It's not cherry picking, it's proper application. When you're talking about science, you use the scientific definition of the words. It's the same reason you wouldn't, for example, assume that a politician is referring to Star Trek aliens when they say "Illegal aliens".
@Everard: Yes, your definition is closer than mine. It's not an answer per se, so I can't mark it out, but you get special mention.
