Yes, Jim Schwartz will be fired from his head coaching position for the Detroit Lions.

BQ: Personally, I believe that Jon Gruden would make a very good fit in Detroit. Gruden does his best when he has a ready-made team, as we saw with the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Detroit Lions look like a ready-made team to me. Gruden might just be what Detroit needs to make that next step forward.

Schwartz said yesterday that even though the team did not make the playoffs he wouldn't call the team's season a failure.

Detroit plays in a division where the two obvious leaders, Chicago and Green Bay, were decimated by injuries this season. Detroit was 6-3 at one time and controlled their own destiny, only to go 1-5 and drop from the playoff picture.

The team remains the undisciplined, unfocused, thoughtless band of thugs that it's become during Schwartz's tenure, but Schwartz doesn't think the team is (Read: remains) a failure?

Schwartz shouldn't be fired...he should be shot. He's too stupid to be allowed to live.

Schwartz is 21 games under .500 in his five years in Detroit and he's had just one winning season. His players are the dirtiest in the game, so dirty that penalties they've drawn have directly cost the team a win on numerous occasions, and Schwartz can't control them. He has never been a good coach, or a good man for that matter.

There are any number of coaches who deserve a shot at a head coaching gig. Owner Bill Ford can call them in, have them draw straws, and the loser can replace Schwartz. I don't know why anyone would want the job.

No doubt about it, read reports that if Rex Ryan gets let go then he could fill the Head Coach job.

They'll fire him and go the route of so many current NFL teams have done and recruit current college coaches to come in and fill his spot
