how do i root my nexus 7 running on android 4.4.2?

i have got ASUS google nexus 7 2012 tablet and can someone give the links and instructions for rooting it?

    best bet is to just download the toolkit here.

    its what i used to root mine back when i had it (have the 2013 now and used his updated one for this device)

    but, if you have the SDK set up, its fairly easy.

    open up ADB

    type fastboot OEM Unlock

    unlock bootloader (erases ALL data on tablet so back up your stuff)

    download a custom recovery (TWRP is my suggestion) rename it to recovery.img

    in ADB type "fastboot flash recovery (file location)

    then get the superSU 1.8 flashable zip and flash it in recovery and you should be good.

    but the toolkit does everything for you so just use that....just figured you should know whats going on during the process.

    If you are running Android Kitkat on your Nexus 7 then this Tutorial can help you.

    It'll update fine and lose the root so you'd have no trace of root left.
