To find the length of the longest rod that can be kept in any rectangular box of three dimensions: x, y and z, we have to use the formula:
d=(x^2+y^2+z^2)^0.5
So the length of the longest rod that can be kept in the box you asked is:
d=(6^2+6^2+7^2)^0.5
d=(36+36+49)^0.5
d=(121)^0.5
d=11
Therefore the length of the longest rod that can be kept in the rectangular box you mentioned is 11cm.

diagonal of the square base = sqrt(6^2+6^2) = sqrt(72)
rod length = diagonal of the rectangular box = sqrt( 72 + 7^2) = sqrt(121) = 11.
