appropriate neckline for a cameo choker pendant necklace?
I always dreamed of wearing a cameo necklace of my grandmothers very similar to the one Vanessa Williams is wearing in this video www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pz9gpxsgaj0
I am absolutely not wearing a strapless dress, I am thinking tip of shoulder, off shoulder, scoop V or sweetheart. My worry is looking like a dominatrix or looking like something out of a 1880's bar. I want to look classy kind of combining the elegance of victorian/edwardian days, with the feel of chokers and poet blouses of the 90's. photos would be awesome but what neckline do you think looks best?
the pendant isn't quite as large as hers though

Necklaces require necklines that are plain, or only very lightly ruffled. Any embroidery near the chest, or any complicated ruffling, will clash with the neck jewelry you wish to display.
Since what you have is a choker, a peasant blouse would look nice with it, and will not make you look like a dominatrix. You will need a plain one, with a simple neck.
Square necks and scoop necks will work well with a cameo. But keep the fabric, especially the chest and neck, plain -- no prints. You want your cameo to stand out.
White, peach or cream would be pretty. Black or maroon might work too, if you would like to complement the necklace band. (If the pendant is peach, though, don't wear a maroon top with it.)
Try the following...
dark blue -
pretty peach and white combo -
this, but in a different color -
regular sheer blouse -
a lot of good ones on this page -
