How have humans affected beaver habitats?

One of the most profound ways humans have affected beaver habitat is by simply removing the beavers and turning them into clothing. Deforestation, destruction of riparian areas, and the blasting of problematic beaver dams have continued from the end of market trapping of the beaver into the present. Artificial manipulation of water levels in waterways that have dams on them also has a negative impact on beaver habitat.
Really, just about everything humans have done that has had anything to do with water has in some way had a negative impact on the beaver, so your question would require more effort to answer completely than i'm willing to put forth right now :P

they have suffered habitat loss, due to loss of forests and development of rivers and streams, though they have rebounded in many areas
