    This does look to be a Steatoda nobilis, I just don't see them 'hunker down' like this.

    They do have a unique pattern that may resemble a shield.(coat of arms)

    If this was just driven from its web, it is likely trying to play dead, they do that if overwhelmed.

    False widow looks correct to me. At least something in the Steatoda genus.
