Why is the media so quick the criticize the GOP?
I was taught journalism is unbiased in an attempt to understand the truth of a matter. What happened to this ethic so basic in journalism? It would also be nice to see journalists actually citing their sources rather than making unsubstantiated claims in news articles. Journalists are paid to investigate and provide information regarding current events. They were not paid to lend their own subjective feelings and opinions to newspaper articles. That was left for the Editorial page.
(Makes you wonder if there is an overall bias in the media. Hmmm.... No, couldn't be.)

Why is the US a global joke right now?
Because the Republicans shut down the US government.
Why did they do that?
Because Republicans are p*ssed at the Democrats for implementing Republican reforms:
Obamacare is Romneycare:
It was written by the same guys who did Romneycare:
Republicans also originated the Individual Mandate:
And you're sitting there wondering why the media's so quick to criticize the GOP? Seriously?

Normally yes, you're right.
However in the case of the Government Shutdown the Republicans *ARE* to blame and deserve all the criticism they're getting.
1: The Republicans have the voting majority in the Congress. In the case of the budget, all three branches have to agree. It doesn't matter what The Senate or The President say, the Republicans hold the deciding vote.
2: The Republicans, or more specifically, Boehner, have long held the position that their only goal is to make Obama look bad by refusing to cooperate with him on everything. That is not an opinion. It is fact. Boehner stated this himself. This stubborn, "I refuse to cooperate, let alone compromise" stance the Republican party has adopted is why we've had budget crisis after budget crisis, not to mention the fiscal cliff and the sequester.
3: Furthermore, Boehner has repeatedly demanded that Obamacare be delayed, defunded, or repealed entirely or else he wouldn't even bring a vote on the budget. This completely unreasonable. Since when does one party -- one man -- get to hold the US economy hostage over a law he personally doesn't like?
It's not even a feasible demand. Stopping Obamacare would do serious damage to the economy as it would abruptly put tens of thousands clerks newly hired to administer the new program out a job, not to mention all the money already spent on the offices, equipment and other materials.
And over what? A law that provides millions of Americans healthcare.
That's what the Republicans' demands come down to: Take away healthcare from 30,000,000 Americans, or we'll allow the US government default on its loans.
And you don't think the Republican party deserves criticism for this?
The US Government has a policy of not negotiating with terrorists. Explain to me how exactly the Republicans' political stance over the past few weeks are any different from those of a terrorist.

In the "shutdown" situation going on right now the Republicans are to blame. They refuse to vote on the budget. Boehner has his hands tied by the Teaparty who are unreasonable and want to defund Obamacare no matter what. It is already the law. Live with it.

Criticize isn't sufficient. GOP should step down enblock or go on unpaid leave for the whole term.
