My tattoo peeled and now it looks like a light gray. Why and what can i do?

I just got it about a week ago its small like 3 by 2 inches its a crucible its all black but it peeled and now its gray. Why and what can I do its my first tattoo so I don't know much?

Vaseline. Don't peel it. let it go on it's own
