Is this considered child neglect?

If a woman met her fiance off of a social networking website through mutual friends and skyped, talked on the phone, etc etc for a few months, met the parents over skype, etc... and then took a trip with her small kids to finally see him in person and meet the rest of the family, is that considered child endangerment or some form of neglect? can that be a good enough reason for people.to call child protective services? BTW the entire trip was paid for by said woman, had more than $5000 for this simple trip that was 6 hours away.

No its not child endangerment ..or neglect.

Are you searching for a reason to get this woman's kids taken away?

And what part about that would YOU consider neglect or endangerment?

Anybody can call CPS. But I would say in this case the CPS employee would be as baffled as I am about exactly what the perceived danger is. Or how the amount of money spent has anything to do with that question.

Now if the guy in question were a known sex offender, or if spending that amount of money left the woman unable to buy food for her kids, things like that would be a concern. But taking your kids on a trip and meeting new people is in itself hardly endangerment or neglect in any way.

No. It is questionable judgment to take your children to meet someone you haven't personally met - but "neglect" means your are not providing something that you, as a parent, are responsible for providing: supervision, hygiene, nourishment, etc.

If the woman decided to leave the children with the man's family while they went on a lengthy date... there MAY be a case if something happened to the children.

if nothing honestly happens to the children while at the mans house then no it isn't child endangerment. If the man in question is a registered sex offender then you may have a case.

no, by your details it does not sound like child neglect at all. The mother is not failing to look after her kids or putting them in danger.

It's not neglect. It's not endangerment. It's not your business.
