I do not have any 'guides' to offer but I can tell you that eBay requires you to almost be perfection. Offer free shipping, one day shipping turn around, a two week almost no questions asked return policy, almost perfect 5 star ratings, little to no negative feedback, and volume selling. It's becoming more difficult every day for the small seller to get and maintain top ranked status.
Their newest update to their user agreement is vague and suggests that not all items listed are searchable in their search engine. eBay has yet to offer an explanation or clarification on this. I quote below:
"Updates to listing conditions. To further create a marketplace where buyers find what they want and drive positive user experience, we updated the provision regarding listing conditions to recognize that the appearance and placement of listings in search and browse results will depend on a variety of factors. So, in some situations a listing may not appear in some search and browse results regardless of sort order."
This new update is confusing in it's wording and incredibly vague. If there is a chance your listing can't even be found in a search why bother paying eBay fees for something that no one is going to see?
