How to know if a tacoma is TRD?

I'm just curious because my uncle just bought an 03 double cab tacoma 4wd and on the tailgate it says "Limited", what does that mean? and also it has the trd stickers on the back but it doesn't have the bilstein shocks it has tokico. Is it really TRD? And what difference does it make that it says Limited, thanks in advance.

There was only one TRD package for the 1st generation of Tacoma--the TRD Off-Road package which includes the electrically-actuated rear locking differential, among other things.

Look on the dash to the left of the steering wheel for a button that says "RR DIFF LOCK". If it doesn't have it, it's not a TRD. The diff lock was available without the TRD package though, so having it doesn't guarantee it's a TRD.

Limited is a different option package. For 2003, it includes: color-keyed front bumper and fender flares, chrome grill surround and door handles, power mirrors, sliding rear window with privacy glass, dual-fabric sun visors, orange-illuminated white-face gauges, power windows/locks, leather trimmed steering wheel and shift knob (manual trans only), intermittent wipers, A/C, driver's power lumbar support and deluxe 3-in-1 AM/FM/cassette/CD with 6-speakers.

here are some differences: (trd off road not sport)

    1 rear locking diff

2 mesh seats on interior of the trd vs cloth on non trd

    3 Inverter

    4 compass and thermostat

5 non trd have a plate tray on the back of the passenger seat, trd has a pocket

    6 wheels

tahts just a few differenced but the inverter is your best bet to determine what u r looking at.

The Vin will tell you. Not some half arsed stickers.
