    Hi, The way to approach these questions is to try to solve one of the variables! You are told; 1) x + y = 7 2) 2x + y = 10 The obvious first step is to get 'rid of' y, so subtract (1) from (2) which gives you x = 3 Substitute 3 for x in equation (1); 3 + y = 7 or y = 7 -3 = 4 To prove the two values, substitute them in equation (2); 2x + y =10, (2 x 3) + 4 =10 or 6 + 4 =10. Not sure where you could have gone wrong!
