Try couchsurfing: https://www.couchsurfing.org/ Accommodation doesn't get much cheaper than that. You might want to select a few accommodation locations around London during your stay to experience the difference in local cultures and keep your public transport costs down, also to have a back-up plan if the accommodation doesn't quite meet your expectations.

The cheapest accommodation is in hostels.
Otherwise, look at EasyHotel, premier inn, Travelodge. Standard hotels will generally be a minimum of £100/night - look on TripAdvisor for idea

Premier Inns are a good reasonably price chain of hotels but ensure you choose one of their central locations like Victoria, Westminster, City Road, Hampstead/Belsize Park. You do not want to be in the distant suburbs

Cheapest is a hostel.
The West two in Bayswater has dorm beds from about £6 upwards. Get what you pay for though!

You should try a hostel! Or you can put an ad on Craigslist for people looking to rent a room out for a week or however long!! Sounds fun :)Source(s): My brain
