Nope. Not much family left to see, & of those who are, they live far away. I miss talking to one favorite aunt on the phone since she passed on this past spring. My brother & his wife came to visit a few times this past year for my brother to help me with my computer. We keep in touch by email. My sister-in-law has been very sweet about sending cards & thoughtful presents.
For many people, family is important. For the rest of us, like singles & senior citizens, we may have to create our own sense of family among friends, church members, other organizations, or even neighbors.
It is good to keep in touch with family when possible, though. According to some Hindus & others of Eastern philosophies, we may share some karma with our families that needs to be experienced or worked out. When in doubt, it may be good to repay conflict with kindness, & if possible, to attempt to get together again after some antagonistic separation. After some lapse of time has passed, try it again one more time.
